Abstract:   (70 Views)
With the growing shortage of natural resources, the availability of resources for human use has become increasingly limited. Packaging is a major contributor to this problem because many packaging products are designed for single use and are discarded shortly after use. Their short life cycles result in the consumption of large quantities of resources and contribute significantly to environmental degradation. In recent years, the demand for biodegradable and renewable materials for packaging applications has increased substantially. This growing demand is largely driven by increasing environmental concerns regarding the extensive use of synthetic and non-biodegradable polymers, particularly polyethylene. Today’s environmentally conscious consumers are seeking packaging alternatives that are sustainable, durable, recyclable, and derived from natural rather than synthetic sources. Therefore, this article focuses on biodegradable and environmentally friendly packaging materials, with particular emphasis on their advantages and disadvantages.
